Handmade Saddlery

Luis Alberto Breda is a renowned saddler who has worked for over 30 years with leather goods of all sorts, learning his craft from his stepfather and his mother in Pratânia, Sao Paulo State.  Work in the Saddlery Workshop involves creating saddles, fashion accessories and items for training animals. For Breda, the process of making a saddle requires time and patience, in part because the work depends on weather conditions. Techniques in the workshop include leather processing, modelling, sewing, carving, drilling, grinding, and riveting.
